UST community praises EJ Obiena for advancing to pole vault finals

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) community has praised EJ Obiena after leaping into the finals of the Men's Pole Vault.

"Our very own Obiena has made it to the finals on August 3. Let us include his success and safety in our petitions for the coming days," UST wrote on its Facebook page.

Meanwhile, UST Minecraft honored Obiena by creating a Minecraft-like depiction of the athlete.

" wish our Thomasian pole vaulter EJ Obiena all the best as he advances to the finals of the Men's Pole Vault Event on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics," it wrote.

Obiena is an Electronics Engineering student of the university.

The 25-year old Tondo native advanced to the final after making it to the top 14 athletes in the qualifying round on Saturday, July 31.

The Philippines' top pole vaulter will vie for a medal on Aug. 3.
