Paranaque LGU imposes liquor ban starting August 2

The Paranaque City government will impose a liquor ban starting August 2 to 20 under the new enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) at the National Capital Region.

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the imposition of the liquor ban in the city was made four days earlier before the NCR will be placed under the ECQ starting August 6 to 20 as a measure to avoid gatherings.

Olivarez said the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), headed by Atty. Lanie Soriano-Malaya, was ordered to check on all business establishments around the city to ensure that they are following the imposition of liquor ban.

Malaya, for her part, said those who will be caught selling and serving of liquor could lead to revocation of business permit.

She said those who continue to violate the liquor ban from August 2 to 20 may also face closure of their establishments.

The mayor said the city government also started the imposition of no indoor or al fresco dining on July 31 and only take-out and delivery in all food chains are allowed.

Olivarez said aside from the imposition of no indoor/al fresco dining, indoor sports courts and venues, indoor tourist attraction, and indoor religious gatherings are also prohibited.

He said that beauty salons, beauty parlors, barbershops, nail spas, and outdoor tourist attractions are allowed but only at 30 percent capacity.

The mayor added that authorized persons outside residences shall be allowed to travel into and out of the NCR Plus area. Virtual religious gatherings and immediate family members are also allowed to gather for necrological services of those who died of causes other than COVID-19.
