Gordon says vaccination helped ease his COVID-19 woes

Senator Richard Gordon on Sunday said he is feeling much better and is now on his way to recovery after testing positive from COVID-19.

Gordon said getting vaccinated against COVID-19 helped ease his battle against the dreaded disease.

"Had I not been vaccinated, this bout with COVID could be much worse," Gordon said in a statement.

"I encourage everyone for whom a vaccine has been made available to go and get yourselves vaxxed. It is effective in minimizing the transmission of the virus and in preventing serious illness," Gordon said.

"In line with this, I encourage government, the private sector, and humanitarian and civic organizations to work together to procure more vaccines and efficiently get our people vaccinated," he added.

Gordon, who was diagnosed with COVID pneumonia said he is now on the fourth day of treatment with Remdesivir, and has been told by doctors to remain confined until he is no longer contagious.

"I cannot reiterate enough the need to immediately test and isolate at the first sign of any symptom related to COVID-19, even if one is already vaccinated," he said.

"Doing so prevented me from transmitting the deadly virus to my wife, Kate, everyone who lives with us, and everyone who works with me at the PRC or who are on my Senate staff," he said.

"It is also important to do contact tracing immediately so that those who are exposed can be tested. This is how we save lives. Transparency is the key to being responsible and proactive in dealing with COVID-19," he emphasized.
