David appeals to public to help feed poor to be affected by ECQ
Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David has appealed to the faithful to help feed the poor who will be affected by the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.

"Like I’ve said many times before, lockdowns for the poor can mean hunger, especially those who are daily wage earners, those who live a hand-to-mouth existence," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday, August 1.
"It is for this reason that we are launching today an appeal for you to join us in feeding the hungry in our urban poor communities in the three cities of Caloocan, Malabon and Navotas who will be most affected by the lockdown in the next few weeks," added David.
The Inter Agency Task Force earlier placed the National Capital Region (NCR) under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions from July 30 to August 5, 2021, and Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20 to help prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Quezon City also issued a similar appeal to the public.
"Due to the recent typhoon and the incoming ECQ of the NCR we are running out of stocks of rice, canned goods, eggs, coffee, milk, face masks, bottled water, food containers and face shields at the Social Service of the Basilica," read their post on Facebook.
"Please help us continue our service to the poor and our brothers and sisters affected by this pandemic and lockdown," it further read.
The Shrine said those who wish to help may drop their donations at the Parish Office.
"We highly appreciate if you give us food cooked or uncooked and goods instead of cash that we could readily give to the poor," it said.
