OCTA: Metro Manila's COVID-19 cases back on decreasing trend

Independent research group OCTA has again observed a slight downward trend in Metro Manila's number of new cases, as shown in its latest monitoring report released on Friday, July 9.

From July 2 to 8, OCTA said that the daily new cases in Metro Manila averaged 636, which is 7 percent lower than the previous week.

This means that Metro Manila is "back on a slight downward trend" after a small uptick in cases during the previous week.

Metro Manila's reproduction number, or the average number of secondary infections by each infected individual, was 0.85.

It has an average daily attack rate of 4.89 cases per 100,000 population, which means that Metro Manila remains under "moderate-low" risk for COVID-19 infections.

In its monitoring report on July 2, OCTA had observed a "slight uptick" in Metro Manila's average COVID-19 cases per day.

It had an average of 686 cases per day from June 25-July 1, which is 5 percent higher than the 654 daily average cases during the June 18-24 period.
