Neighborhood toughie yields gun, shabu in Pateros

A 41-year-old man notorious for instigating fights in a community in Pateros was arrested by police after he was found to be possessing a gun and suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).

The Pateros police identified the as suspect Danilo Otis, a resident of Sitio Pagkakaisa Street, Brgy. Sta. Ana in Pateros.

According to the police, they received a call from a citizen Tuesday about a man who had something bulging in his waist and was shouting at neighbors and daring them to fight him.

The police sent a team to the area and saw Otis on Sitio Pagkakaisa Street. When the suspect sensed the police’s presence, he ran to evade arrest but was eventually caught.

When the police conducted a body search, a .38 caliber revolver without a serial number and loaded with two live ammunition and a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu were found in his possession.

The police said Otis is a member of the Vargas criminal group responsible for illegal drugs in Metro Manila.

Otis will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), lauded the police for the arrest.

“I congratulate our personnel for the swift and successful arrest of this person who is a member of a notorious group responsible for illegal drugs in Metro Manila. We cannot deny that this success is a result of cooperation of our citizens by providing information which we immediately act upon,” said Danao.
