Local execs group urges national gov't: Issue uniform database of vaccinated persons

The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) exhorted the government on Friday, July 9, to provide a unified database of vaccinated individuals against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which will allow local government units (LGUs) to easily verify incoming tourists in their respective areas.
ULAP national president and Quirino Governor Dakila Carlo Cua stressed that a uniform database is the "simplest and most useful way" for LGUs to verify if a traveller is already vaccinated or not.
In terms of land transportation, Cua noted that not all Quick Response (QR) codes of travellers could be validated on site since not all checkpoints have access to WiFi.
“Kung card lang talaga na papel, wala pang safety features (If it is just a paper card, it has no safety features),” Cua said in a radio interview over dzBB.
ULAP presented the proposal to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Health (DOH) in their meeting on Thursday, Cua said.
He also proposed a new system that could verify the results of an individual's COVID-19 test through the use of his/her national ID number.
The ULAP chief said the group has also proposed a unified vaccination card due to the varying designs and layouts being used by different LGUs.
