Remulla: 11% of Cavite target population for vaccination received 1st dose
CAVITE - Governor Jonvic Remulla announced that 11 percent of its 3.1 million target population has already received the first dose of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine.
In a Facebook live update on Wednesday (July 7), the governor said that 368,560 vaccines have been administered while 91,392 individuals have already been fully vaccinated in the province as of July 6.
"Mabagal, kulang, pero wala tayong magagawa dahil DOH (Department of Health) naman is doing its best (It's slow, it's not enough, but we can't do anything because the DOH is already doing its best), Remula said. "We can only give what we receive."
He added that vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. assured him that more doses are coming to Cavite this month.
Meanwhile, the Novavax vaccines that the provincial government ordered will be delivered by the supplier either in August or September. The local government unit (LGU) allotted P1.5 billion to acquire 1.5 million vaccines at $10.25 per dose.
Remulla said that if Novavax gets Emergency Use Authorization for individuals 12 years old and above, the provincial government will purchase an additional 1 million doses to vaccinate its younger population.
"Kung payagan man tayo (if we will be allowed), we expect to reach herd immunity by January or February. And hopefully, by March, April, May, or at the latest, June next year, ay magkakaroon na tayo ng face-to-face (we'll have face-to-face classes)," the governor said.
Remulla urged his constituents to message him directly on Facebook to report those who are illegally selling COVID-19 vaccines.
