PH Red Cross receives over P767K donation from PCSO

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) formally received a P767,110 donation from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) as part of its mandatory contributions from January to February this year.

PRC confirmed this on Thursday, July 8. PCSO General Manager Royina Garma personally handed out the cheque amounting to P429,030 to PRC Blood Services representative Rea Bulaong on July 7.

“The Red Cross of the Philippines thrives because of organizations like the PCSO who see the value of Philippine Red Cross in the country,” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon. “We are very grateful for your annual contribution,” he added.

PRC said that this annual donation from PCSO is for the Blood Samaritan Program.

“We encourage other organizations to donate in our Blood Samaritan Program especially in this time of the pandemic as the need for blood doesn't stop,” Gordon said.

The Blood Samaritan Program, PRC said, is aimed specifically to assist indigent patients needing blood transfusions.

The PRC is seeking for “kind-hearted individuals or groups” that are willing to give financial donations to support the blood needs of the indigents.

“The donated money covers the payment of blood processing fees of legitimate indigent patients,” PRC said.

Additionally, PRC noted that the PCSO also gave another cheque to the PRC amounting to P338,000 for their disaster relief operations.
