Manila procures 60 electric beds, ICU equipment for district hospitals

The local government of Manila on Wednesday received the 60 electric beds and other medical equipment it procured for its six district hospitals.

The electric beds will be distributed to the respective Intensive Care Unit (ICU) departments of the city’s district hospitals, namely, the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial edical Center, Ospital ng Tondo, Justice Abad Santos Medical Center, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Ospital ng Maynila, and Sta. Ana Hospital.

Aside from the 60 electric beds, the city of Manila also procured 72 Ambu bags, 72 pieces of blood pressure apparatus, 43 glucometers, 18 ophthalmoscopes, 31 stretcher beds, 79 suction machines, and 59 tabletop pulse oximeters.

"The very least we can do para sa ating mga health care workers ay bigyan sila ng maayos na mga gamit (for our health care workers is to give them proper equipment),” Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said.

Domagoso added that if health care workers are given the right equipment, they can perform their duties and give the best care for their patients.

The procurement of medical supplies was part of the local government's “continuous preparations to handle critical cases in the city’s district hospitals.”

"Gusto natin maging laging handa. Hindi lang ito dahil sa COVID-19, kundi para rin sa ibang mga pasyente na kailangang alagaan sa ICU setting (We always want to be ready. This is not just because of COVID-19. This is also for our other patients who are in need of care under an ICU setting), " Domagoso said.
