Estranged half brothers Jinggoy Estrada and Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito could again face off for a Senate seat in the 2022 elections.

This surfaced as a possibility after the two sons of former President Joseph "Erap" Ejercito-Estrada expressed Wednesday, July 7, their interest to run anew for senator, under different political parties.
JV, a member of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), was reportedly planning a return in the Senate, NPC chairman and Senate President Vicente Sotto III previously disclosed.
"Everyone has the right to run for public office. But it is the prerogative of the people to choose a candidate with integrity, honesty and track record," JV said in a statement on social media.
"In my case, if I decide to run it’ll be because I believe I have a good track record, I never stole public funds and, more importantly, I want to ensure that Universal Health becomes a reality for every Filipino," he further wrote.
On whether I will run for the Senate:

Jinggoy had said in a television interview that he is inclined to run for senator again. He is running under the banner of the Partido ng Masang Pilipino that was founded by his father.
"There is a strong possibility that I might run for the Senate again," Jinggoy said in an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel, as he confirmed that his party, will renew their alliance with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte's Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) for next year's elections.
He, however, said he hopes that JV will give way so he could secure enough votes to return to the Upper Chamber.
"That is a big factor, of course, mabuti na iisa lang ang Estrada na tumakbo kasi minsan nalilito 'yong ating mga botante kung sino sa aming dalawa (it's better that only one Estrada will run because voters are sometimes confused who they will vote for)," Jinggoy said.
"So siguro (maybe), it's high time that we get to talk to each other," he said of JV.
The siblings ran for senator but both lost in the 2019 midterm elections, with JV blaming his older brother Jinggoy for his unsuccessful bid for reelection.
Jinggoy said he hopes to talk to JV about their election plans.
"I'm very willing to talk to him anytime of the day, tawagan niya lang ako (he can just call me)," he told JV.
