PhilHealth eyes adjustment in its COVID-19 benefit package

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is eyeing to adjust the case rate for its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) benefit package.

PhilHealth Spokesperson Shirley Domingo said that they will soon implement the new in-patient package for COVID-19.

“Inaaral na po iyon ng PhilHealth, mayroon na tayong pag-aaral doon, in fact mayroon ng recommendation doon (PhilHealth is already studying that. In fact there is already a recommendation),” said Domingo on Tuesday, July 6.

“So, anytime soon we will be implementing an improved package for in-patient hospital care for COVID,” she added.

Currently, PhilHealth's benefit package for COVID-19 patients include P43,997 for mild pneumonia, P143,267 for moderate pneumonia, P333,519 for severe pneumonia, and P786,384 for critical pneumonia.

Domingo, meanwhile, said PhilHealth has so far paid the different healthcare facilities a total of P36 billion in claims for COVID-19 benefit package.
