PH Red Cross thanks BSP for P15M donation

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Tuesday, July 6, expressed gratitude to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) after receiving a monetary donation worth P15 million.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon (right) thanked BSP Chairman Benjamin Diokno for the P15 million donation that would help PRC strengthen its response efforts during emergencies.

The said donation is intended to help indigents who will need emergency medical services and transport under the ambulance Samaritan Fund and other PRC ventures.

“This donation is very crucial since every minute counts when it comes to ambulance response and transfer,” Gordon said. “Rest assured that the Red Cross will make each peso count,” he added.

The BSP is the country's central monetary authority.

The said donation was made for BSP’s 28th anniversary to strengthen its commitment and support to the PRC which is considered as the foremost humanitarian organization in the country.

Apart from this donation, the BSP also donated P10 million to PRC in 2020. The said donation also made 2,014 ambulances run and respond to emergencies under the Samaritan Fund possible.

The partnership of the two organizations traces back to 2015 when the BSP supported the purchase of blood bank equipment for the PRC.
