Policemen in Davao de Oro were lauded for initiating projects that provided free wheelchairs for persons with disability in the province.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar particularly commended personnel of the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) Cluster 1 and 2 in Compostela Valley who were behind the project, “Distribution of Wheelchairs to PWDs.”
Among the recipients of a wheelchair was Orland Elisan, a resident of Purok 8 in Barangay San Jose, Davao de Oro, who was rendered with orthopedic disability by polio.
With a huge smile on his face, Elisan expressed gratitude to the police officers who provided him with the wheelchair.
"We salute our personnel in Davao region for extending assistance to our kababayan in need. This kind of project should continue so that more people would receive assistance," said Eleazar.
Eleazar encouraged other police units to initiate projects they think would further help residents in their respective areas of responsibility and bring the community closer to the PNP.
"There are no small or big projects for as long as they touch the lives of the people," said Eleazar.
