After strutting down the pavement wearing their towering stilettos, women everywhere have rekindled their love for flats during the pandemic. From the woven and strappy kinds to the logo-deck ones, flats became the prime footwear style of the previous year, even when going out.

The trend also stomped the international runways to give fashion savants everywhere style inspirations on how to look ravishing with their feet closer to the ground. Among the trend's breakout stars is the iconic Birkenstock, and lucky for us in the Philippines, a new store dedicated only to it opened last month.

The German footwear brand inaugurate its first new retail concept in the country at the Megaworld Lucky Chinatown Mall last June 26, 2021. The 40-sqm. retail space showcases several exciting new styles, colors, and prints first seen in-store.

“We are excited to open our first new retail concept in the Philippines with a completely different look and feel, but still unmistakably Birkenstock,” said Carlo Cecilio, Philgear Int’l Inc.’s brand manager when describing the new retail concept. Paying homage to its product, the store interior is based on Birkenstock’s core materials cork, leather, and jute.

Carlo also introduced two new releases exclusively available in Birkenstock Lucky Chinatown. First is the "Birko Flor Ethno Mocha," which is a celebration of ethnic prints and boho style. It is one of the first few releases available in vegan. Next is the "Taormina Oiled Leather," a line similar to our Mayari sandal with a slim black strap for extra security.”

Birkenstock Lucky Chinatown is just the first out of several mono-brand stores under the Primer Group of Companies to be opened within the year. Birkenstock Philippines will continue to expand in more prime locations nationwide.
