ABS-CBN reporter Jeff Canoy is latest victim of Internet death hoax

TV Patrol reporter Jeff Canoy has fallen victim to the dreaded Twitter death hoax.


On July 6 at 6:37 p.m., a netizen tweeted that Canoy passed away.


The netizen wrote in capital letters: "RIP ABS-CBN JOURNALIST JEFF CANOY.  ABS-CBN JOURNALIST NA SI JEFF CANOY PUMANAW NA. RIP JEFF CANOY 1964-2021."


Reacting to the fake news, Canoy commented: "Multuhin kaya kita..." (I can haunt you).


Canoy further said: "Alam ko matanda na ako pero...."

Some comments:

"Bossjepp, ang mas masama dyan sa fake news na yan eh ginawang 1964 ang birthday mo. Di ba, 1974 dapat??"

"Report mo na, boss. Malamang eh multo yan."

"Sa totoo lang, may first reaction was nabwisit ako. Why would peope do that? Pero nakita ko yung year of birth. Luh, di hamak na mas bata pala ako sa ‘yo, Jeff!"

"Hindi pa panahon sir…Iikot pa tayo ulet ng Mavulis…"

"Kuya Jeff kung nandito ka man, paki galaw ng baso."
