Revilla thankful after Sandiganbayan clears him of all graft charges
Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. on Monday, July 5 said he is thankful after the Sandiganbayan acquitted him of all 16 graft charges that are related to the so-called pork barrel fund case or the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
In its decision, the Sandiganbayan granted Revilla his demurrer to evidence which has an effect of an outright acquittal and hence, can no longer be appealed.
“The Sandiganbayan, by granting our Demurrer to Evidence and dismissing all the charges against me, validates what we have known from the very beginning—that all the accusations against me have no basis and any leg to stand on,” Revilla said in his Facebook post.
“The Court found that the accusations against me are baseless. I didn't even have to defend myself and provide our evidence. To those who have just been submitted by the prosecution they have proven nothing,” he said.
Revilla reiterated that he has not, and never have been involved in graft and corruption.
“This is the reason why I did not run; I did not hide; and did not evade the judicial system. I put my trust and my life in our Courts,” he said.
“I faced everything head on. Despite the destruction of my name and personality, I faced everything completely because I know the fact that I was just a victim of bad politics,” the senator added.
“The truth has come out. Now, I can move forward to serving our nation and our people even further, free of this nuisance,” the lawmaker further said.
