Prince Charles: Songs make me happy, give me 'an irresistible urge to get up and dance'

Prince Charles has revealed some of his favorite songs, one of which gives him "an irresistible urge to get up and dance" during a radio show on Saturday to thank medical frontliners.

The Prince of Wales shared his songs as part of an hour-long special show on hospital radio to thank the National Health Service (NHS) staff and volunteers for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the PA news agency via CNN report.

He thanked them for their "sheer resilience and indomitable spirit in this most testing of times."

"During current times, when we have been dealing with the effect of this dreadful pandemic, the role of hospital radio has been even more important, and I know it has been of immeasurable value in connecting people, in providing comfort and companionship, and in raising people's spirits when that is needed," he told the program.

Prince Charles said some of his favorite songs include hits from Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, and Edith Piaf.

He then highlighted The Three Degrees' song "Givin' Up, Givin' In" as a track that used to give him "an irresistible urge to get up and dance."

The prince also selected "Lulu's Back In Town" by Dick Powell as it made him happy because it reminded him of his grandmother.

Other tracks on his list are La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf, Upside Down by Diana Ross, The Voice by Eimear Quinn, The Click Song by Miriam Makeba, You're A Lady by Peter Skellern, La Mer by Charles Trenet, Bennachie by Old Blind Dogs, and They Can't Take That Away From Me by Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers, Tros Y Garreg/Crossing the Stone by Catrin Finch, and Tydi a Roddaist by Bryn Terfel.

His 13-song playlist will also be released on Spotify.
