Korean actor So Ji-sub returns to K-drama after 4 years with 'Dr. Lawyer'

Korean star So Ji-sub, known for the Korean dramas “Something Happened in Bali” and “Master’s Sun,” is returning to the small screen after four years.

The 43-year-old actor has been confirmed to star in the MBC K-drama “Dr. Lawyer,” which will premiere in the first half of 2022.

In “Dr. Lawyer,” So Ji-sub plays the role of Han Yi-han, who was once a genius surgeon but is now a lawyer specializing in medical cases. The character was a top surgeon specializing in general and thoracic surgeries. His being a top doctor was cut short when a patient died during operation, which resulted in his disqualification as a doctor.

After this, Han Yi-han became a lawyer specializing in medical litigation and finds the truth about his case that happened four years ago.

This is So Ji-sub’s comeback drama after starring in “My Secret Terrius” in 2018 for which he won the “daesang,” or grand prize, at the 2018 MBC Drama Awards.

“Dr. Lawyer,” a 16-episode drama, will be written by Jang Hong-cheol who was behind the 2019 OCN drama “Class of Lies.”

It will be directed by Lee Yong-Seok, who helmed “Haechi,” “Il Ji-Mae: The Phantom Thief,” “The Great Seer” and “Wife Returns.”

A representative from MBC Drama Studio said “Dr. Lawyer” will have the appeal of both medical and legal dramas.
