France condoles with families of victims in C-130 crash

France has joined the international community in offering its sympathy and condolences to families of the victims of the C-130H military aircraft that crashed in Patikul, Sulu on Sunday.

In a statement released on Monday, the French Embassy in Manila said France is deeply saddened to learn of the crash of a military plane in Jolo before noon on July 4, 2021, which claimed the lives of at least 50 people mostly military personnel who were supposed to be deployed in Sulu.

“The Embassy of France expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and to the Filipino people, and hopes for the swift recovery of those injured in this tragic accident,” the Embassy said.

Amid the challenging and emotional time for the nation and the families of the victims, France reiterated its solidarity with the country and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Also on Monday, the White House released a statement conveying its sympathy to the Filipino people following the plane crash and assured that the US “stands shoulder to shoulder” with its ally the Philippines, and is ready to provide support to the government’s response effort.

“On behalf of the United States, I offer our deep condolences to the people of the Philippines regarding the tragic plane crash in which several dozen service members were killed. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and the families of those who were lost,” said US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
