US-bound flight carrying Pacquiao makes emergency landing in Japan
The Los Angeles-bound flight carrying Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao and his team made an emergency landing in Japan on Sunday morning.
A spokesperson of the senator confirmed this to reporters saying that the flight PR102 MNL-LAX, which departed in Manila at 9 p.m. July 3, diverted to Haneda to address a medical emergency.
According to Pacquiao’s staff, the passenger in distress was not part of the lawmaker’s camp.
The flight returned to Manila and will depart again this afternoon, at 2 p.m. July 4, for Los Angeles.
Pacquiao had earlier disclosed he will leave for the US this weekend after confirming that his boxing match against Errol Spence Jr. will continue as scheduled in August.
The senator is currently at odds with President Duterte, his party mate at the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP)-Laban, after he linked several government agencies to corruption.
