Tugade reiterates 'job offer' to displaced OFWs, PUV workers
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade is serious about his "job offer" to displaced public utility vehicle (PUV) workers and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

This, as Tugade reiterated his call to individuals from these sectors Sunday, July 4 to join the department’s various projects so that they may still have a source of livelihood amid the hardships caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Samantalahin ‘ho ninyo ang oportunidad na hatid ng pamahalaan. Prayoridad po namin ang mga OFW at ibang transport stakeholder na mabigyan ng trabaho sa mga proyektong pang-imprastraktura ng kagawaran (Take advantage of the opportunities that the government is giving. We prioritize giving work to OFWs and other transport stakeholders under then department’s infrastructure projects)," he said.
It was only last May during the inspection of the Valenzuela and Bulacan segments of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Clark Phase 1 Project when Tugade first wooed ex-OFWs, drivers, and conductors to try their hand at government infrastructure works.
He noted that some 200 former OFWs were involved in the construction of PNR Clark Phase 1.
But the DOTr chief clarified Sunday that the job opportunities aren't limited to just infrastructure projects.
“Ang DOTr ay hindi lamang pang-imprastraktura. Ito ay tumutulong din upang makapagbigay ng trabaho sa ating mga kababayan. Kapag may proyekto, may katumbas na pangangailangang pang-empleyo. Ang alok ng proyekto, trabaho para sa mga Pilipino (The DOTr is not all about infrastructure. It also assists in employing our countrymen. If there are projects, there are corresponding job vacancies. These projects offer employment to Filipinos)," he said.
