Robredo blames local politics in CamSur for wrong predictions of her 2022 plans
Vice President Leni Robredo believes that local politics in Camarines Sur and the personal agenda of politicians are at play as various personalities from her home provincing are wrongly predicting her 2022 plans.

During her Sunday radio show with broadcaster Ely Saludar, the vice president emphasized that she hasn’t made her decision whether to run as president or not in the May 2022 polls.
“Pero iyong sa akin lang, uulitin ko iyong sinasabi ko na kapag mayroon na akong desisyon, sa akin iyon manggagaling. Kapag mayroon nang desisyon, bakit ko itatago ko iyong desisyon ko ‘di ba? (But for me, I will say again what I said before that if I have a decision, it will come from me. When I have a decision, why will I hide my decision, right?),” she said.

Robredo mentioned that there are those speculating that she will surely run as president because she is not eligible to run as governor in Camarines Sur while others said she will seek the gubernatorial post next year.
“Eh marami silang, halimbawa—ayaw ko na lang, Ka Ely, ako pa iyong mag-provide ng information. Bahala na sila mag-research. Pero ang dami naman nilang hindi—ang dami nilang detalye na hindi naman alam (They have lots of, for example—I don’t like, Ka Ely, to provide the information. Let them research. But they do not know all the details),” she said.
Former congressman Rolando Andaya Jr. has been saying that Robredo will run as governor next year because she transferred residency to Magarao, a municipality 20 minutes away from Naga City.

But as a voter of Naga City, the vice president cannot run as governor because Naga is an independent component city, which means its residents and voters are not eligible to vote and run in local politics.
This is something that Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte stressed when he said that Robredo will surely run as president.
Both Andaya and Villafuerte are allies of the Duterte administration. Their families, however, are political rivals in Camarines Sur.
“Sa amin sa Camarines Sur, tingin ko for so long grabe iyong away ng mga politiko for so long. Alam mo iyon, parang buong panahon politika (In Camarines Sur, I think for so long, the rivalry among politicians is too much. You know, it’s like politics all-season-long),” Robredo said.
She added that this is a sad reality because COVID-19 cases are on a rise in Camarines Sur, and that local politicians should focus on addressing that.
As for her political plans next year, the vice president said she is still in the process of assessing different factors that will affect her decision.
“Hindi naman ito basta-basta na, hindi naman ito, Ka Ely, na gusto ko lang ng posisyon, eh. Pero ang daming mga consideration. So hindi tayo puwede magdecide nang mas maaga kasi nga, maraming kino-consider (This isn’t something we take lightly, this is not, Ka Ely, simply that I want a position. There are a lot of considerations. So, we cannot decide earlier because we need to consider many things),” Robredo said.
If the pandemic did not happen, she could’ve focused on politics as early as last year.
