Pasay BPLO issues safety seal certification to 1,000 establishments, extends deadline for application

The Pasay City Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) has issued safety seal certification to more than 1,000 establishments in the city that have already complied with the checklist requirements.

BPLO chief, Mitch Pardo, said they also extended the application for safety seal certification until next week which was supposed to end last June 30 to give additional time to business establishments to comply with the checklist requirements.

Pardo said the city government launched on June 12 the issuance of safety seal certification at SM Mall of Asia which was attended by Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, the city’s lone Representative Antonino Calixto, and the City Council.

She said during the launching, Rubiano announced the city government set up booths in malls like a one-stop-shop for easy application for the safety seal certification.

The BPLO chief said the booths that were already done with the issuance of safety seal certification were the following: Resortsworld, Metropoint, Victory Mall, WMall, Double Dragon, and Galleria in Baclaran.

Pardo said the remaining booths that sill accepts application for safety seal certification for this week were at Mall of Asia and MetLive.

She said the certification was being issued by all local government units under Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21-01 which mandates to create a Safety Seal Certification Committee that shall serve as the issuing authority for the registered business establishments that wishes to be inspected and verified with safety seal to increase consumers confidence that the business establishment is compliant with the health protocols.

The BPLO chief said the committee were composed of members from the BPLO, Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), City Health Office (CHO), the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO), as well as the local police who will assist business establishments in applying for the safety seal certification.
