Pacquiao takes huge travel hitch in stride

Senator Manny Pacquiao didn't seem to mind the emergency medical situation that forced a delay in his supposed flight to Los Angeles on Saturday night, July 3.

The boxing legend-turned-politician found himself back at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City at past noon Sunday, July 4 wherein he told reporters what happened.

"We returned to NAIA for emergency due to a passenger who forgot medicine...it's OK, the life of the passenger is important," Pacquiao said in a chance interview.

Pacquiao, 42, was on his way to the United States (US) to train for his high-stakes clash against American welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr. His plane, Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR 102, left NAIA at around 9 p.m. last night.

However, the Los Angeles-bound flight had to be diverted to Haneda Airport in Japan to address a medical emergency.

A DZBB report Sunday noon said that a passenger had forgotten to bring his or her insulin, forcing the emergency landing midway into the trip. It was later found out that the insulin was actually inside the passenger's hand-carried bag aboard the plane, the same report said.

Pacquiao and his entourage will depart for Los Angeles again at 2 p.m. Sunday.
