One of two LPAs inside PAR may become tropical depression 'Emong' -- PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs), one of which may become a tropical depression within 24 hours.
The first LPA was located 780 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, while the second LPA was in the vicinity of Southern Luzon or over the coastal waters of Torrijos, Marinduque around 4 a.m., Sunday, July 4.
While not directly affecting the country at this time, the weather disturbance east of Eastern Samar may develop into a tropical depression with the local name "Emong" within 24 hours.
It is projected to move generally northwest towards the extreme northern Luzon-Taiwan area.
"Due to the likelihood of this weather disturbance becoming a tropical depression, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be hoisted over the localities in extreme northern Luzon in anticipation of possible strong breeze to near gale conditions," PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, the second LPA is less likely to develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours but the possibility of development beyond the 24-hour monitoring period is still not ruled out.
This LPA may continue to bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Rizal, northern Quezon including Polillo Islands, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands.
"Under these conditions, isolated flash floods and rain-induced landslides are possible during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps," PAGASA warned.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said Metro Manila may continue to experience cloudy conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms until Wednesday, July 7, due to the LPA.
