LPA east of Visayas intensifies into tropical depression 'Emong' -- PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar has developed into a tropical depression and was given a local name "Emong."

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA intensified into a tropical depression at around 8 a.m., Sunday, July 4.

Emong is the first tropical cyclone to form inside the Philippine area of responsibility this month.
