IPOPHL grants copy registration to Pisay teacher's instructional videos for remote learning

The Intellectual Property of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has granted a copyright registration to YouTube lesson videos created by a math teacher at the Philippine Science High School (PSHS)–Main Campus in August 2020.

In a Facebook post, the PSHS System congratulated Leo Andrei A. Crisologo, Special Science Teacher V in the PSHS-Main Campus, "for the copyright registration of his Lesson Videos for Mathematics 3 awarded by the IPOPHL." The videos were created on August 3, 2020.

The certificate of copyright registration was issued on July 16, 2021 by the Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights of the IPOPHL.

“Registration and deposit is made for the purpose of completing the records of the NLP (National Library of the Philippines) in accordance with Section 191 of the Republic Act No. 8293, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines,” read the certificate of copyright registration.

Based on the certificate, the period of protection is “lifetime of the author and for 50 years from publication of the work, and if published, 50 years from the date of making.”

The PSHS had noted that Crisologo’s instructional videos aim to enrich the content of the learning guides provided by the PSHS System in support of the institutional remote learning modality.
