Romeo in high morale, confident to return soon, says SMB coach

Terrence Romeo showed signs of possible return after attending the last two practice sessions of San Miguel prior to Wednesday's 99-80 win over the Blackwater Bossing, said Beermen coach Leo Austria.

"Nag-uumpisa na ang kanyang mga strengthening and shooting and probably in a week time, we will know kung playable na o hindi 'yon," said Austria when asked about updates on Romeo, who hurt his left knee during their 93-87 loss against the Meralco Bolts last July 18 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Though there is no definite timetable yet for Romeo's return, the SMB tactician assured that his prized guard remains in high spirits despite being sidelined early in the season.

"But mataas ang morale niya, tsaka ang spirit niya dahil alam niya na makakatulong siya sa team and that's what he is preparing for. And we're doing well up today but what more if we have him," said Austria.

"Talagang kailangan. Everybody naman e sa team namin especially the kind of player na si Terrence and confident siya na he will be back soon."

It would be recalled that the former Far Eastern University star was also ruled out of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup bubble conference with a shoulder injury.

In three games, Romeo, a two-time PBA champion, averaged 13.67 points, 3.33 assists, and 2.67 rebounds.

Against Meralco, Romeo powered SMB with 18 points, three boards and two assists on a losing effort.

San Miguel holds a 3-1 record and is currently tied with Rain or Shine and Meralco.
