PCG rescues 6 fishermen from distressed motorbanca in Navotas City

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued at least six fishermen from two distressed motorbancas in Navotas City, it said on Thursday, July 29.

The fishermen were identified as Michael Andres, boat captain of MBCA Two Sister 3, and his companions Boboy Jeraldino, and Dindin Ocampo; Eddie Fajarillo, boat captain of MBCA Two Sister 3, and his colleagues Mario Fajarillo, and Eduardo Adrade.

In an incident report, the PCG said MBCA Two Sister 2 encountered an engine trouble after being battered by huge waves while the fishermen were casting their nets in Market 3, Pier 5 last Monday.

The crew of MBCA Two Sister 3, its sister boat, proceeded to the area to save their colleagues and tow the distressed motorbanca when it also capsized due to strong waves.

The PCG received infirmation about the incident, prompting the authorities to deploy a search and rescue team to assist the fishermen.

The PCG said the distressed motorbancas were towed in Pier 5, Navotas City for repair.

Meanwhile, the PCG noted that no fishermen sustained injuries despite their ordeal.
