A week before ECQ in Metro Manila, DSWD reports more than P1.59-B worth of stockpiles, standby funds

As Malacañang announced that the National Capital Region (NCR) will be placed under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported Friday, July 31, that it has available stockpiles and standby funds amounting to more than P1.59 billion.

Based on DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report, as of 6 p.m., July 30, the agency has more than P802.49 million in total standby funds. Of this, P756.8 million has been earmarked as quick response fund (QRF) available at the DSWD Central Office and P45.69 million at the Field Offices.

The DSWD said a total of 268,309 family food packs (FFPs) worth P145.64 million were available for distribution to the local government units (LGUs) that are in need of relief augmentation support.

Each FFP contains six kilos of rice, four cans of sardines, four cans of corned beef or beef loaf, and six sachets of coffee or cereal energy drink which is enough for two days for a family with five members.

Non-food items (NFIs) worth P451.31 million and other food items worth P193.34 million were also readied as part of the DSWD’s stockpiles.

The DROMIC report said since the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic started last year, a total of 3,549,474 FFPs have been distributed.

The total cost of relief assistance extended to the affected families amounted to P2.57 billion, P2 billion of which was provided by the DSWD.
