Trough of LPA to continue to bring scattered rain showers, thunderstorms over most of PH -- PAGASA
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Metro Manila, parts of Luzon, and the whole Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours due to the trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) east of the country.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of the LPA at 990 kilometers east of Northern Mindanao at around 3 p.m., Saturday, July 3.
Weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression within one to two days.
While there remains a low likelihood of intensification, Ordinario said scattered rain showers may prevail over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas, and Mindanao.
PAGASA advised the public to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides as rains may become moderate to at times heavy.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to stay vigilant against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
