PH records 5,908 new COVID-19 cases; death toll breaches 25,000

The country logged 5,908 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, July 3, bringing the nationwide tally to 1,430,419.
Of the total, 53,665 are active cases, wherein 91.2 percent have mild symptoms, 3.8 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are critical, two percent are in severe condition, and 1.51 percent are experiencing moderate symptoms, the Department of Health's (DOH) latest case bulletin showed.
The DOH said the death count rose to 25,063 after 90 more patients died. The case fatality rate is at 1.75 percent.
The recovery tally climbed by 7,698 to 1,351,691 with the recovery rate now at 94.5 percent, the DOH said.
Despite being classified as a low-risk area for COVID-19, the country is still “not out of the woods,” said DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III.

“We are not yet out of the woods. Kapag kinuha mo yung pangkalahatan na risk classification, nasa low risk na ang buong Pilipinas (We are not yet out of the woods. If you observe the general risk classification, the whole Philippines is at low risk),” said Duque in a radio interview on Saturday.
“Pero hindi dapat ganun ang pagtingin dito lamang. Kasi kinakailangan (tingnan) ang mga lugar na may mga spikes o surge. Doon makikita mo na may ilang mga lugar na naka high-risk ang kanilang average daily attack rate (But that shouldn't be the only way to look at it. Because it is necessary to also monitor areas with spikes or surges. With that, you can see that there are some areas where their average daily attack rate is still at high-risk),” he added.
