Navotas City experiences another rise in new COVID-19 infections

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco has warned his constituents against the sudden unexpected rise in the city's new COVID-19 cases.

Tiangco reminded the city residents not to let their guards down against the pandemic following an alarming new COVID-19 infections reported for the past several days.

"Noong June 24, 41 lang ang ating active cases pero ngayon, higit na ito sa doble (Last 24, we only had 41 active cases. But now, it has already doubled)," Tiangco said in a Facebook post Friday evening as the city's current COVID-19 cases reached 85.

"Wala talagang puwang ang pagiging kampante. Di pwedeng malingat dahil buhay at kabuhayan ang nakataya (We cannot afford to be confident. We can let our guards down because our lives and our livelihood are at stake)," he added.

The mayor's reminder came after the local government discovered through contract tracing that 27 out of 40 swabbed patients that came from one establishment tested positive for the virus.

"Ngayon lang po ulit tayo nakapagtala ng lagpas sa sampung nagpopositibo kada araw simula 10 June 2021 (This is the first since June 10, 2021 that we record more than 10 new cases daily)," Tiangco said.

On Thursday, 14 new cases were also reported, the highest since June 10.

Recently, Tiangco earned praises after the local government managed to control the city's infection rate at a time when the whole Metro Manila experienced another surge of new infections.
