Eligible individuals should participate in the government's vaccination program against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), an official of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

CBCP Vice President and Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David encouraged the public to avail of the COVID-19 vaccine in order to achieve herd immunity by the end of the year.

"Para magkaroon ng herd immunity bago man lang mag-Pasko ( herd immunity before Christmas) and we will be able to celebrate Christmas more meaningfully,” said David in an interview over Church-run Radyo Veritas.

David said that they are currently coordinating with local government units to help speed up the vaccination rollout.

“Ang panawagan nila ay makapag-mobilize ang simbahan ng mga doktor, mga nurse and other volunteer para mas mabilis na magawa ang vaccination program (They are asking the church to mobilize doctors, nurses, and other volunteers in order to speed up the vaccination program)," he said.

The CBCP previously offered the different churches to be used as vaccination sites.

On July 2, Testing czar Secretary Vince Dizon said that the country has so far administered 11 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
