Beyond the call of duty: 3 rookie Iloilo cops help preggy deliver a baby girl
It was supposed to be a regular beat patrol at the Jaro Plaza in Iloilo City on June 27 when three rookie policemen heard a cry for help over a pregnant woman was in labor.
The first instinct was to bring 27-year old Cecilia Cesima to the nearest hospital but time was running out as the baby was about to go out.
It was then that Patrolmen Vinjie Nebit, Roman Paja, and Rico Yan Inocencio, although nervous and at first at a loss on what to do, suddenly found themselves attending to Cesima until she delivered the baby.

Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar was elated upon learning that of the good deed of the three rookie cops, promising to give them due recognition for performing a job beyond the call of duty.
"I salute Patrolman Nebit, Patrolman Paja and Patrolman Inocencio for not thinking twice to help a pregnant woman deliver her baby. This is not actually part of the training of the police but still, they did everything that they could to help," said Eleazar.
"I also thank these three policemen for inspiring the entire Philippine National Police in defining what police service really is," he added.
The three cops, with the help of a civilian, took Cesima and her baby to the Western Visayas State University Medical Center after the delivery for full medical attention.
They three cops even looked after Cesima while she was at the hospital, attending to her and her babies’ medical needs.
They also provided Cesima with milk and diapers for her baby.
Based on the initial report, Cesima was seen roaming aimlessly at the Jaro Plaza before she went into labor.
Cesima and her baby were placed under the care of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, until her relatives can fetch them.
