Despite their popularity as love team, both John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo are consistent in denying insinuations they were involved romantically in real life.

John Lloyd would like to keep it that way, making his stand obvious in a recent interview with Karen Davila, describing his perennial leading lady simply as someone “special.”

“Siyempre si Bea siya sa buhay ko. Special 'yun, so it would be hard to change that,” he said.

But were they ever an item?

“Hindi naging kami.”

But you dated?

 “I don’t know. Parang mahirap yatang sagutin 'yun...”

“Kasi nga dahil nirerespeto ko 'yung tao, ayaw ko naman na ikakahon ko na lang sa isang walang kabuluhang sagot para lang maitawid na.”

In the end, he maintained, “If anything, natatakot akong i-label kung ano man 'yung naging totoo between (me and Bea). Kahit ako sa sarili ko, I don’t want it to reduce into something that it’s not.”

Note that prior, Bea admitted she actually fell for John Lloyd at one point, only that the actor was with somebody else at the time.
