2 Luzon dams still releasing water amid incessant monsoon rains

The Ambuklao and Binga dams in Luzon continued to release water from their reservoirs on Thursday, July 29, due to persisting rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

Based on the latest monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Ambuklao Dam’s six gates remained open at three meters (m).

The dam's water level decreased to 750.93 m as of Thursday noon, from the previous 751.35 m. Its normal high water level is at 752 m.

Meanwhile, Binga Dam in Benguet also had six gates opened at 3.5 meters.

Its water level slightly went down to 573.73 meters from 5.74.34 as of Thursday morning. Binga Dam’s normal high water level is at 575 m.

“Residents and the local disaster risk reduction and management office concerned are advised to take all the necessary appropriate actions,” the agency said.
