PH administers over 659K COVID-19 jabs in single day

The Philippines has surpassed its highest coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccinations in a single day after administering over 659,000 jabs.

National Task Force (NTF) Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Vince Dizon said Wednesday, July 28, that the country was able to administer 659,029 COVID-19 vaccines in a day, surpassing its target of 500,000 shots daily.

"For the first time po nalampasan natin ang ating target sa isang araw. Team effort po ito, lahat po nagsama-sama para maabot at malampasan pa natin ang ating target (For the first time we, we exceeded our target. It was a team effort, everyone came together to reach and surpass our target)," Dizon said in a televised briefing.

Dizon noted that the rising vaccine confidence among the public also became a factor.

"Nakita naman natin sa mga nakaraang survey napakalaki na, halos dumoble mahigit ang kumpyansa ng ating mga kababayan sa bakuna. Dahil na rin yan sa konting takot dahil sa Delta variant (We have seen in previous surveys that the public's vaccine confidence almost doubled. Maybe because they fear the Delta variant)," he added.

"Tayo ay natutuwa po na nakikita natin ang ating mga kababayan na dahan-dahan po ay naniniwala na sa bakuna at naniniwala po na kailangan nilang magpabakuna hindi lamang para protektahan ang sarili nila, kundi para protektahan ang mahal nila sa buhay (We're glad to see our countrymen slowly believing in vaccines and believing that they need to be vaccinated not only to protect themselves but to protect their loved ones, too."

As of July 27, around 18,174,405 individuals have already received COVID-19 vaccine shots.

Of the number, 6,838,403 are already fully vaccinated.
