EXO member D.O.'s first solo album sells nearly 229,000 copies in 2 days

K-pop boy band EXO member D.O. has released his first solo album “Empathy” on July 26 and it topped music charts.

“Empathy” is his first solo album since debuting in EXO in 2012 and it contains eight songs including the carrier track “Rose.” D.O. participated in writing the lyrics for “Rose” and “I’m Fine.”

“I’m nervous yet excited about my first solo album. I hope the music makes you happy,” said D.O.

Korean rapper Wonstein is a featured artist in the song “I’m Gonna Love You” and D.O. said, “When I first heard ‘I’m Gonna Love You,’ the only person that came to mind was Wonstein.”

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “Empathy” sold 197,018 copies on the first day of release on July 26 and topped the daily physical album chart. It sold 31,677 copies on July 27 to bring the two-day total to 228,695.

On Gaon Music Chart’s daily retail album chart, “Empathy” sold 173,692 copies on the first day and 23,694 on July 27 for a two-day total of 197,386 copies.

SM Entertainment announced that D.O.’s album topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in 59 countries and regions around the world including the Philippines, US, Canada, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Austria, Brazil, Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, India, Qatar, Romania, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.

“Empathy” also topped QQ Music, KuGou Music and KuWo Music digital album sales charts in China.

D.O. completed his military service last January and resumed his career.
