DSWD: More than P11-M worth of relief aid extended to monsoon-affected families

More than P11-million worth of relief assistance has been extended to the families affected by southwest monsoon rains enhanced by typhoon “Fabian,” the Department of Social Welfare and Development said Wednesday, July 28.

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reported that as of 6 p.m., July 28, the aid extended to six most affected regions amounted to more than P11.18 million. The assistance was given by the DSWD and the local government units (LGUs).

The affected regions are Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR), Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan).

The DROMIC said the monsoon rains had affected 153,469 families or 603,210 individuals from 844 barangays.

A total of 3,439 families or 13,068 individuals have been logged as evacuees or those currently staying in 189 evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, 2,412 families or 10,313 individuals have opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends.

The DROMIC reported that 895 houses were damaged, 131 of which were totally damaged and 769 were partially damaged.
