DOH logs 4,478 additional COVID-19 cases

The Philippines tallied 4,478 more cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), pushing the total tally of confirmed infections to 1,566,667.

Of the total, 54,552 are active cases or those who are still being treated, the Department of Health (DOH) said in its latest case bulletin.

Ninety-three percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 1.2 percent were asymptomatic, 1.4 percent were critical, 2.3 percent were in severe condition, and 1.64 percent have moderate symptoms.

Meanwhile, the death toll increased by 84 to 27,401--which is 1.75 percent of the country's overall tally.

The recovery count also jumped to 1,484,714 or 94.8 percent of the total caseload, after 6,149 new survivors were logged.

“We urge local government units (LGUs) who are observing case spikes to implement granular lockdowns and reduce the time for case detection to isolation. LGUs should strengthen the implementation of PDITR (Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat and Reintegrate) strategies which has been proven to keep our case numbers down,” the DOH said.

“We strongly remind the public not to be complacent, and completely and correctly follow the minimum public health standards and get yourselves vaccinated,” it added.
