Fashion genius Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel once said, "A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future." She may have advised generations of women to strip one article of clothing before going out, but never have she said to go out without a classy scent. Among the devoted lovers and followers of the luxury empire she built, they know that apart from her revolutionary designs, Chanel is also famous for its signature scent, the N°5 perfume.

A bedside staple of iconic actress Marilyn Monroe, the perfume was first launched in 1921. Crafted by Coco herself and chemist Ernest Beaux, the N°5 perfume was described as "a woman's perfume, with a woman's scent" that aimed to celebrate the liberated feminine spirit of the 1920s. Years after its creation, the scent became among the top choices of women, taking it to a celebrity status.

To celebrate its centenary, the luxury house released a high jewelry line paying homage to its signature fragrance. Led by Patrice Leguéreau, Chanel's director for fine jewelry creation studio, the collection first made news last May 2021 with the release of the 55.55 necklace, inspired by perfume's bottle. The jaw-dropping piece features a 55.55-carat emerald diamond set in an 18-carat white gold bezel with a fastener in the shape of the digit 5.

According to the brand, the collection is composed of a whopping 123 pieces playing in five motifs—the bottle, the stopper, the number, the flower, and the fragrance trail.

"Like the notes of the perfume, these elements fuse harmoniously to create an unforgettable new collection crowned by a necklace whose design reflects the defining features of the N°5 perfume," the brand says.
