8 close contacts of Delta variant patient in Bacoor positive for COVID-19

BACOOR, Cavite - Eight close contacts of a coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Delta variant patient in Addas 2C in Barangay Molino II tested positive for the virus, Mayor Lani M. Revilla said on Wednesday (July 28).

"Yung unang kaso sa Addas 2C, we quarantined all of them, we placed them in a quarantine center and immediately, na-PCR test po natin (The first case in Addas 2C, we quarantined all of them, we placed them in a quarantine center and immediately, they underwent a PCR test)," Revilla said in an interview with CNN Philippines.

"We got the results after 24 hours at nag-positive ulit itong Index patient na ito, together with majority of the family members. Siyam silang nag-positibo (We got the results after 24 hours and the Index patient tested positive again, together with the majority of the family members. Nine of them are positive)."

According to Revilla, they asked the Department of Health whether to treat the eight close contacts as Delta variant patients or regular COVID-19 patients.

" since they are within the same house, treat it as Delta variant," the mayor explained. "So, naka-isolate na po itong siyam na taong ito at iba pang nakasalamuha nila (So, these nine persons are in isolation, as well as the people they've interacted with)."

Aside from the cases within the Delta variant patient's household, nine other Addas 2C residents tested positive for COVID-19. The local government unit (LGU) has conducted antigen tests for 247 residents within the village.

On the other hand, Bacoor's second Delta variant patient in BF El Grande Subdivision in Molino VI already tested negative for the virus. The patient was already given clearance by the DOH and the City Health Office (CHO) to return to her home.

Out of the 288 residents in El Grande who underwent antigen tests, 12 turned out positive. This brings the total number of COVID-19 patients within both villages to 30.

The LGU has implemented granular lockdowns in the two subdivisions to prevent the spread of the virus. BF El Grande's granular lockdown will last until August 8 and Addas 2C, until August 9.
