100 percent of senior population in Mandaluyong barangay vaccinated

The Mandaluyong City local government announced on Wednesday, July 28, that all senior citizens in Barangay Namayan have already received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The milestone was achieved after the city inoculated 70 percent of the barangay's total population with the first dose, as well as all of its eligible senior citizens.

The announcement was made by Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos during the city's simultaneous on-site vaccination and "Relax We're Vaxed" sticker campaign at the Namayan covered court.

Abalos congratulated the residents of Barangay Namayan and thanked them for responding to the city's call to get vaccinated against the dreaded disease, especially amid the threat of the more contagious Delta variant.

"I hope other barangays would follow suit. Getting vaccinated is our best defense against COVID-19 right now along with the minimum health protocols," Abalos said.

The mayor then gave Barangay Namayan Captain Dondon Francisco the "Relax We're Vaxed" stickers which will be attached to houses and establishments with all eligible household members and employees inoculated with at least the first dose.

The City Health Office reported that as of July 27, 410,565 vaccines have been deployed in the city. A total of 244,505 residents got their first dose while 166,060 have been fully vaccinated.
