Real estate firm NEO renews power supply deal with Aboitiz Power

Real estate firm NEO, has renewed its power supply agreement (PSA) with Aboitiz Power Corporation for the delivery of renewable energy-sourced electricity to the former’s high-end property developments in Fort Bonifacio Global City.

As highlighted by NEO President and CEO Raymond Rufino, sourcing of power from RE providers, primarily the Cleanergy brand of Aboitiz Power, will be a strategic contribution of the property firm in helping solve the world’s worsening predicament over climate change risks.

“Given our current climate crisis, sourcing and utilizing only renewable energy is more critical than ever,” Rufino stressed.

He similarly noted that “net zero energy and reducing the carbon footprint of our buildings is one of our key sustainability commitments in addressing climate change and Aboitiz Power has been a key partner in our current success.”

Rufino qualified that Aboitiz Power has always been its viable ally in clinching its net zero aspiration as well as certification for their buildings, as the power firm had already been its electricity provider since 2013.

He specified that three NEO buildings – One/NEO, Four/NEO and Six/NEO -- have so far been certified ‘net zero’ by the Advancing Net Zero Rating Scheme of the Philippine Green Building Council.

At this stage, Rufino emphasized that four more buildings in their property development portfolio are in the line-up for ‘net zero’ certifications within the year.

Given their thriving tie-up cemented through the years, the NEO chief executive indicated that “we look forward to our continued partnership with Aboitiz Power, as we work collectively in advocating for net zero across the Philippine real estate industry.”

The power firm-supplier, for its part, stated that “the renewed partnership between NEO and Aboitiz Power is a testament to the continued growth of the country’s renewable energy market,” and such has been spotlighting the intensifying role of businesses and organizations in “building a more sustainable future.”

Juan Alejandro Aboitiz, first vice president for Commercial Operations of Aboitiz Power, said the renewed supply deal sets off the next exciting phase “of our partnership and look forward to joining NEO in addressing the global climate crisis not just through net zero carbon emissions, but more so, in supporting their sustainable management practices through our energy services and community programs.”

NEO is touted as the first property owner and developer that completed its entire portfolio with 5-star certifications under the Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) program, a green building rating system in the Philippines.
