
DAVAO CITY – The Mindanao PAGASA Regional Services Division (Mindanao-PRSD) on Sunday advised the public to "exercise precautionary measures" as the air temperature in Mindanao was observed to reach an "alarming level."
"The public is hereby advised to exercise precautionary measures against this extreme weather event to avoid heat stresses that may lead to adverse health conditions like heat strokes and other related medical emergencies," said the Mindanao PRSD in its Extreme Temperature Advisory issued at 11:00 am on Sunday.
As of 8:00 pm of July 24, data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) showed that seven cities in Mindanao were among the top 10 areas with the highest temperature recorded. The highest temperature was recorded in the weather station in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental at 38.0°C at 2:10 pm, followed by Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur which recorded 37.9°C at 3:00 pm and Zamboanga City which recorded 36.2°C at 2:00 pm.
The list included Catbalogan City in Samar which recorded 36.0°C at 2:00 pm, Cotabato City with 35.7°C; Dipolog City with 35.4°C, Butuan City with 35.3°C; Borongan City in Eastern Samar with 35.2°C recorded at 4:00 pm ; Tacloban City in Leyte which recorded 34.5°C at 1:00 pm; and Surigao City which recorded 34.5°C.
