Sta. Lucia snapped a two-game slump with a 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18 victory over Black Mamaba Army Monday night in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the PVC Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Jovielyn Prado and MJ Phillips starred for the Lady Realtors with 17 and 14 points while teaming up for 26 kills to improve their win-loss tally to 2-3.

The Realtors rebounded from a third set defeat with a big run in the fourth then checked a shaky windup with a couple of clutch plays, the last on a Jonah Sabete down-the-line power hit that wrapped up the hard-earned victory.

Sabete finished with 13 points including three of the team’s eight service aces.

Sta Lucia’s 55 kills, 10 blocks and eight aces made up for their 32 unforced errors with Aiza Pontillas and Mika Reyes also contributing with nine points each.

Sta Lucia coach Eddieson Orcullo said they needed to work on their consistency to keep on winning.

“Yun minsan sakit namin eh. Yung titigil, tapos ta-trabaho ulit, titigil tapos trabaho. So simple lang sinabi ko, nandito na tayo eh. Baka pagdating sa dulo, magsisihan pa tayo,” he said.

“Yung Army kasi alam natin kapag nabuhayan yan lalo na yung mga beterano, sa dulo medyo mahirap talunin na yan. Kaya dapat dire-diretsuhin na namin.”

The Lady Troopers fell to 1-3 for joint eighth with the Cignal HD Spikers despite Ging Balse-Pabayo and Royse Tubino scoring 13 points apiece.
