Pasay on alert vs COVID-19 Delta variant

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered the City Health Office and the city’s lone public hospital, Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH), to be on alert in case the dreaded COVID-19 Delta variant enters the city.

Dr. John Victor de Gracia, PCGH officer-in-charge, said the hospital already has plans of increasing the bed capacity for COVID-19 to 65 from 52 beds.

De Gracia also said the hospital is also making sure that it has a steady supply of medicines and oxygen in case another surge happens.

Rubiano said the city government is working overtime in preparing for the potential onslaught of the dreaded Delta variant, which experts say is more contagious and dangerous than the other variants.

The mayor said the city government is also intensifying its efforts in prevention, detection, contact tracing, and isolation.

Barangay officials were also tasked to report to the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit individuals infected with COVID-19 for immediate action.
