DOH reports 6,664 new cases of COVID-19

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, July 26, reported 6,664 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The additional new cases brought the total number of cases in the country to 1,555,396.

The case bulletin of the DOH also showed 5,766 new recoveries and 23 new deaths.

Total recoveries rose to 1,473,009 while total deaths climbed to 27,247.

The DOH said 23 duplicates were removed from the total case count as nine of these were recoveries.

"Moreover, 17 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it said.

The Health department said one lab was not operational on July 24, 2021 while eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

The DOH added that based on data in the last 14 days, the eight non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 2.3 percent of samples tested and 2 percent of positive individuals.
